## Zoom [#zoom]

**On macOS**, use the zoom group that floats at the bottom of the canvas (`−` / percentage display / `+` / fit button) to zoom in and out.

* `−` `+`: Step through round zoom levels — 10% / 25% / 50% / 75% / 100% / 125% / 150% / 200% / 300% / 400%
* Clicking the percentage display opens a menu with:
  * **Fit Map to Window** — Scale so the entire map fits on screen
  * **Fit Selection** — Scale so the selected topic fits on screen
  * **Auto** — Switch to automatic-adjustment mode
  * Or pick a fixed zoom level directly, from 25% to 400%
* The fit button (the arrow icon) performs a "Fit Content" action in a single tap

## Focus Mode [#focus-mode]

A display mode that dims everything outside the selected branch, making it easier to see.

With a single topic selected, press the Focus Mode button (or `⇧⌘F` on macOS) to turn it on. While it's on, the button lights up in the accent color. Press the button again, or `⇧⌘F` again, to turn it off.

Focus Mode is a display-only state — it is not saved to the map file, and it turns off when you close the document.

## Sidebar [#sidebar]

The sidebar shows the topics in the map as a tree list (outline).

* Clicking a row in the list also selects that topic on the canvas and scrolls the view to it.
* Rows with child topics show a disclosure triangle; click it to expand or collapse that row's children within the list.

Show or hide the sidebar itself with the sidebar button in the toolbar.
