Toolbar
Toolbar buttons and the capsule shown when a topic is selected
Most of Thoughtree's operations happen through the toolbar that floats over the screen. Its layout differs between macOS and iOS.
macOS Toolbar
From left to right:
| Button | What it does |
|---|---|
| Sidebar | Show or hide the sidebar (topic list) on the left |
| New Child Topic | Add a child topic to the selected topic |
| New Sibling Topic | Add a sibling topic to the selected topic |
| Delete | Delete the selected topic (branch) |
| Shape | Open a menu to choose the topic's shape |
| New Callout | Add a callout to the selected topic |
| Relationship | Create a connection between two topics |
| Boundary / Group | Add or remove a boundary for a single selection, or group topics for a multiple selection (switches automatically based on how many topics are selected) |
| Summary | Add a summary spanning the selected sibling topics |
| Inspector | Show or hide the Inspector on the right |
iOS Toolbar
Five items are always shown at the bottom of the screen; everything else lives in the overflow menu (the "More" button).
Always shown: New Child Topic / New Sibling Topic / Delete / Shape / Image
In "More": New Callout / Relationship / Boundary / Summary
The Capsule Shown When a Topic Is Selected
When you select a topic, a small formatting capsule floats over the canvas.
- Font — Change the font of the selected topic
- Image — Add an image to the selected topic
- Memo — Edit the memo for the selected topic
- Expand (❯) — Open the Inspector for more detailed settings
